Our Pharmacies were designed specifically with Compounding in mind.

Our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art technology that enables us to formulate medications using the latest techniques. We adhere to strict quality assurance protocols to ensure the highest quality products for our customers.

Our pharmacists have undergone comprehensive compounding training, allowing them to customize medications for patients who require specific:

  • Strengths
  • Dosage forms
  • Flavours
  • Ingredients excluded from medications due to allergies or sensitivities

These dosage forms can include:

  • Gels
  • Transdermal Creams
  • Lotions
  • Suspensions & Liquids
  • Capsules
  • Troches (similar to slow-release lozenges)
  • Effervescent powders
  • Suppositories and Lollipops.

We tailor the medication to the patient’s needs and formulate a product in a suitable dosage form as we understand that capsule form isn't for everybody.

Compounding is the Art and Science of Creating Personalised Medications

Compounded medications are "made from scratch" - individual ingredients are mixed in the exact strength and dosage form required by the patient. This method allows the compounding pharmacist to collaborate with the patient and the prescriber to customise a medication to meet the patient’s specific needs.

A Brief History of Compounding

At one time, nearly all prescriptions were compounded. However, with the rise of mass drug manufacturing in the 1950s and '60s, compounding rapidly declined. The pharmacist’s role shifted from being a preparer of medications to a dispenser of manufactured dosage forms, leading to a decline in pharmacists trained to compound medications. Nevertheless, the "one-size-fits-all" nature of many mass-produced medications meant that some patients' needs were not being fully addressed.
